Equipment

  • Dutch oven

Ingredients

  • 2 lb rib tips
  • 1 tbsp canola oil or other non-flavor oil
  • 6 slice ginger
  • 6 clove garlic
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 14 oz can diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  • Place the ribs in a pot with 2 slice of ginger, add cold water cover them, and bring to boil. Take the ribs out when the water is boiling. This step can make the sauce cleaner.
  • In a dutch oven, heat 1 tbsp of oil with medium heat. Sautee garlic, ginger, star anise, and cinnamon stick for about 1 minute. Once you can smell the aroma of spices, add the can tomato in, together with soy sauce and 1 tbsp of sugar.
  • Add ribs into the sauce, and add water to cover the ribs. Once the water boil, turn to low heat and let it stew for 2 hours. Enjoy!
